A router table should be supportive in several different ways. For starters, it needs to be compatible with most routers. That’s what you’ll find with the Bosch benchtop router table. This model features two adjustable featherboards, a dust collection port, and a 6-foot power cord in addition to its compatibility.
The working surface of this particular table is 27×18 inches, so it’s big enough to work on, but may not support some of the larger projects. The strength of the aluminum fence and mounting plate exceeds expectations, while the MDF face plates work to get the job done. You will also receive mounting hardware that will allow you to use a variety of different routers on this table, which has been pre-drilled to accept the different equipment options.
The maximum fence opening is 2 5/8 inches. It accepts router bits that are up to 3.5 inches in diameter. It’s a recipe, when you put all of these ingredients together, which allows you to create accurate cuts.
What We Liked About the Bosch Benchtop Router Table
What we really liked about this particular router table was its ability to handle tall stock. You can adjust the MDF face plates to meet the needs of your working piece, so the amount of support you receive from the table is better than other models. The end result is an operation that is remarkably smooth.
We also found the featherboards to be rather easy to use. Their adjustability allows you to fit a number of different working pieces on this table without much of a problem. They are supporting as you feed your stock across the table, allowing the user to obtain consistent results every single time.
All of the essentials that you need from this table come with it. There’s even a 15-amp dual outlet switch with overload protection and a lockout key. You receive the start pin and guard, giving you the opportunity for routing work on curved working pieces. It also features a dust collection port that fits a standard 2.5-inch hose so you can use one of the best shop vacs to keep your working space clean.
What Could Be Improved with the Bosch Benchtop Router Table
We are a little concerned about the overall flatness of this particular router table. Although the construction of the table is pretty solid, there is a small place where a high spot does disrupt a level working surface. You can work around it fairly well once you spot it, so expect to check your table before using it.
We also had a problem with the router removal process. The user is forced to take off the fence and multiple screws with their locking nuts in order to remove the router. This process makes it really difficult to swap out router bits for different cuts.
If you have consistent cuts that need to be made, we strongly recommend the Bosch benchtop router table today. If you need to make multiple passes with different bits, however, you may find the processes that this table requires to be somewhat bothersome.
