Review: DeWalt 10-Inch Compact Job Site Table Saw

A good job site table saw needs to have a few features in order for it to get the job done. It should have a steel roll cage to protect it, a rack-and-pinion fence system, and a powerful motor to take on tough tasks. The DeWalt 10-inch compact job site table saw has all of this and a whole lot more.

Its 1850-watt motor gives you a high-performance tool that can cut through large sheet materials with relative ease. When combined with its fence system, you’ll receive 610 millimeters of rip capacity. The design is relatively compact, but somewhat heavy, though this is due to the roll cage that has been incorporated into the tool.

You’ll receive two blade spanners, a parallel fence, a miter fence, and a dust port reducer with this table saw as well.

Here’s What We Liked About the DeWalt 10-Inch Table Saw

The blade of this table saw spins at 3,850 RPM, giving you an accurate and clean cut almost every time. Jumping and kicking was kept to a minimum. There were a few struggles with certain plywoods being cut, but this was more due to the pressing of the plywood than the ability of the saw itself.

Fence adjustments with this table saw are quick and easy as well. The telescoping design that DeWalt has incorporated into the table saw allows the rails to move out to 20 inches. This allows you to rip a full sheet or retract the rails to take advantage of the compact design this table offers.

You’ll receive a maximum cutting depth of 3 1/8 inches with a 90-degree cut, while a 45-degree cut provides a 2.25-inch maximum cutting depth.

We also appreciated the dust collection port that has been included with this table saw. It’s a standard 2.5-inch port, allowing you to attach the shop vacuum directly to the tool so that you can create a cleaner working area.

This is a great tool, easily one of the best table saws, and from a highly trusted brand.

Here’s What We Think Could Be Improved with the DeWalt 10-Inch Table Saw

On the whole, DeWalt has put together a pretty good portable table saw that will meet most needs. Our only real issue with this tool is that the blade height mechanism can bind on the user when using the table saw for an extended period of time. Accessories like an added table saw fence might help you handle this.

This creates a saw rotation that is less than smooth. It even suddenly dropped on us once. To be clear, however, this was with extended use to test the capabilities of the saw.

We also had to spend a little more time than anticipated adjusting the trunnion mounts for the saw to get the blade set properly.

The Verdict

If you’re looking for a powerful and portable tool, the DeWalt 10-inch compact job site table saw offers a number of features that anyone would enjoy using. It may not be suited for heavy, long-term use in our opinion, but it is the perfect table saw for those with light- to medium-duty woodworking tasks that need to be completed. This is why it earns our recommendation.
